As much as I’d like to say this micro bakery is actually run by a little gnome, it’s not. It’s run by me. And, I am not a gnome.

I’ve been baking for over 15 years and getting stuck in our homes for much of 2020 turned this idle hobby into a way to keep busy while having reasons to drop by friends with something fresh out of the oven.

Now that we’re back out in person, those same friends encouraged me to start selling wider. A writer in my professional career, baking has become the thing I do with my hands when I simply can’t type anymore.

Why a gnome?

A long time ago I fell in love with the film Amélie, and it shaped not only pieces of who I am, but also contributed in forming my career as a storyteller.

For a long time I wanted a way to commemorate how much this film has meant to me, but I didn’t know what. After maybe the 400th rewatch, I decided, a gnome was the perfect symbol. One of my best friends looked at movie stills and a few days later I had a tattoo design. Now, the mark of my favorite movie rest right above my elbow.

When it came time to name my first baking instagram account, it became clear that the very best name was already a part of me: the little gnome.
